Dollye Shives Simpson, age 92 of Louisville, formerly of Beaumont, died Monday, December 23 at the home of her daughter. She was a daughter of the late Walter and Anna McCluskey Shives and was a member of the Beaumont United Methodist Church. She was retired from Handmacher Mfg. after having worked there for thirty four years.
She is survived by one daughter, Tammy (Gary) Gibson of Louisville; three grandchildren, Kyle and Caleb Gibson of Louisville; and David (Patricia ) Simpson of Edmonton; three great grandchildren, Haley and Erica Simpson and Ryder Knight.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband , Charles Edd Simpson and two sons, Michael Eddie and Charles Freddie Simpson.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 28 at 11:00 A M at the Beaumont United Methodist Church with Bro Joe Wilcoxson officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaumont Cemetery.
Visitation will begin Friday, Dec. 27 at 3:00 P M at the McMurtrey Funeral Home and continue at the church at 9:00 A M Saturday until funeral time at 11:00.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, J.E. and Millie Kerr, and maternal grandparents Watson and Debbie Dubre, maternal great grandparents, Wallace Dubre and Sam and Clarice White. She is also survived by uncles, Randy (Kim) Kerr, Elizabethtown, Wesley (Carla) Dubre and Brad (Tessa) Dubre: aunts, Susan (David) Hammer, Glasgow and Misty Dubre as well as numerous cousins.
Graveside services will be held later.

Louise Vibbert, age 91, of Summer Shade, died Sunday, December 1, 2013 at N H C in Glasgow, Ky.
She was born September 13, 1922 at Sulphur Lick, Ky. the daughter of the late Zilpha and Zadie Martin Hope. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Marcella Rich, Glasgow; Ellen Jacobson, Fernandina Beach, Fl.;
and Elaine (Gordon) Mattingly, Lexington, Ky. She is survived by 3 sons, Bobby and John Vibbert, Summer Shade, and Gary (Tabitha) Vibbert, Edmonton. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters in law, Edalene Hope and Marilyn Grider.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Todd Vibbert, one son, Jimmy Vibbert, two grandchildren, one sister, Melba Jean Hope, and two brothers, Gladwell and Tommy Hope, and one son in law Chet Rich.

CHARLES HUSTON MCMURTREY
Charles Huston McMurtrey, age 87, of Summer Shade passed away Monday, September 23rd at TJ Samson Community Hospital.
He was the son of the late Herman L and Hazel Grider McMurtrey.
Charles was owner and operator of McMurtrey Funeral Home,which was started by his father, Herman in 1929. He was also owner/operator of McMurtrey Planing Mill which manufactured truck bodies for many years. Charles also participated in many civic organizations. He was a charter member of the Summer Shade Lions Club: served on the Metcalfe County School Board from 1960 - 1967: and a member of the Monroe County Home Health Board for several years. Charles was a weather observer for the National Weather Service for over 50 years. He also served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Cadet.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arlene Morgan McMurtrey; three sons, Tom McMurtrey (Freda) of Summer Shade, David McMurtrey (Phyllis) of Maysville, Kentucky, Gary McMurtrey (Sharon) of Summer Shade; three daughters, Jan Page (David) of Bowling Green, Laurie Butler (Jimmy) of Edmonton and Shana McMurtrey of Summer Shade: nine grandchildren, Brian and Jason McMurtrey of Summer Shade, Korey McMurtrey (Allison) of Louisville, Ashley Miller (Tom) of Cold Spring, Sarah Hoover (Scott) of Louisville, Hannah Page of Bowling Green, Russ, Emily and Ty McMurtrey of Summer Shade; three great grandchildren Emma, Micah Jacob and Jude McMurtrey and his beloved cat, Millie.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arlene Morgan McMurtrey; three sons, Tom McMurtrey (Freda) of Summer Shade, David McMurtrey (Phyllis) of Maysville, Kentucky, Gary McMurtrey (Sharon) of Summer Shade; three daughters, Jan Page (David) of Bowling Green, Laurie Butler (Jimmy) of Edmonton and Shana McMurtrey of Summer Shade: nine grandchildren, Brian and Jason McMurtrey of Summer Shade, Korey McMurtrey (Allison) of Louisville, Ashley Miller (Tom) of Cold Spring, Sarah Hoover (Scott) of Louisville, Hannah Page of Bowling Green, Russ, Emily and Ty McMurtrey of Summer Shade; three great grandchildren Emma, Micah Jacob and Jude McMurtrey and his beloved cat, Millie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Florian (Buddy) McMurtrey.

He was a farmer and a son of the late Herod and Lillie Eaton Holloway. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead Church of Christ and an Army Veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Roberts Holloway; six sons, Terry Holloway of Lexington, Gaius Holloway of Summer Shade, Forrest Holloway of Tompkinsville, Derek (Janice) Holloway of Minnesota, Alan Holloway of Summer Shade and Lance Holloway of North Carolina; grandchildren, Tabitha Holloway, Courtney Green, Dusty Brown, Jacob Holloway, and Heidi Holloway; one sister, Ravenel Haile of Georgia. HOWARD ANTHONY HEATTER
Howard Anthony Heatter, age 67 of Edmonton, died Friday, June 21, 2013 at his residence. He was a son of the late Howard Philip and Dorothy Halvey Heatter and was employed in the Forest Industry. He served in the Navy during the Vitnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Kaczorewski Heatter; one daughter, Sandra (Rob ) Wardell of Ottowa, Il; two grandchildren, Brandon and Matthew Wardell; one brother, Craig Heatter.
In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Michael Heatter.
There will be no funeral service, as cremation was chosen.

Lovie Marie Broady, age 80 of Glasgow, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the T J Samson Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and daughter of the late Russell Raymond and Mae Pauline Tabor Hurt. She was a member of the Foundation Baptist Church.
She is survived by four sons, David (Cathy) Coffey of Glasgow, Dillard ( Sheila ) Coffey of Bowling Green, Daniel (Trish ) Broady of Edmonton and Clifford ( Vicky ) Broady of Glasgow; one daughter, Charlotte (Chester ) Blakley of Glasgow; two sisters, Janice Pendleton of Scottsville and Faye Howard of Bowling Green; two brothers, Harvey and Perry Hurt of Bowling Green; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.

James Wesley Wade,age 88 of Summer Shade, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at his home. He was a well known farmer, a life long resident of Summer Shade and was a member of the Summer Shade Baptist Church.
He was a son of the late Pauline Atkinson Wade and Gilliam Wade. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Rebecca and Dorothy Wade.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Emma Jean Hays Wade; two sons, Mike (Elaine )Wade, Mark (Vickie ) Wade all of Glasgow, one daughter, Jill (Joe) Wade Smith of Columbia,Ky; six grandchildren, J.R. (Megan ) Wade, Bowling Green, Allen Wade of Owensboro, Wesley Wade, Nashville,Tn., Whitney Wade, Athens,Georgia, Taylor Smith of Columbia, Andrew Wade, Glasgow; two great grandsons, James Eli Wade and John Miller Wade of Bowling Green; one brother, Harold Wade of Harriman, Tn. and two nieces.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines,a Viet Nam Veteran, a member of Edmonton Post 6281 VFW, Ky Colonel and a member of the Patriot Guard.
He is survived by one daughter, Jamie Foster of Scottsburg, In. mother Margaret C. Elzie (Big Dee) Lawson, age 65 of Nobob, died Sunday May 5, 2013 at the Palace in Red Boling Springs, Tenn.
He was a farmer and the son of Elzie Mitchell Lawson and Alline C. Miller Lawson White.
He is survived by four brothers, Freddie, Mike (Becky) Lawson, Gary (Mary) Lawson of Summer Shade and Larry (Chop) (Doris) Lawson of Glasgow, two sisters Rita (Randy) Anderson and Anita Lawson both of Summer Shade as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by brothers Sandy and Randall Lawson

Carrie Helen Lester Garrett, 81, formerly a long-time resident of Beaumont, Ky ,died April 24, 2013 at Canyon Cove Assisted Living in Orem, Ut. She was born on July 24, 1932 to the late Sanford Ezra Lester and Hylus Lee White Lester. She was preceded in death by her husband James Murison Garrett and four brothers, Murl, Tennison, Raymond and Wayne Lester.
"Helen" had a passion for cooking and fed numerous missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of which she was a faithful member. Her church, her family, and her many neighbors and friends brought her much joy and contentment. She took great pride in keeping a nice home and also loved canning home-grown food and reading. In her later years, she kept busy as a home-health care-taker.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Diane Neal of Orem, UT ,her son, James Nathan Garrett (Freida), of Pembroke Pines, FL, sisters Juanita Miller and Hazel McFarland of Glasgow and brother Frank Lester of Willow Shade, She has 7 grandchildren and 10 great grand-children.
A viewing will be held at the McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade on Tuesday, April 30th from 2 to 7 and on Wednesday beginning at 11:30 am at the Glasgow ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 748 W. The Willow Shade native and Army veteran was a retired farmer and the son of the late Sanford Ezra and Hylus Lee White Lester.
He is survived by his wife Donnie Shaw Lester; one daughter Sandra Lester(Timmy Allbright) Anderson both of Edmonton; two grandsons Brandon McCoy and Nick Anderson; one great granddaughter Hallie Brooke McCoy; one brother Frank (Reva) Lester of Willow Shade and three sisters Juanita Miller and Hazel McFarland of Glasgow and Helen Garrett of Utah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by one daughter Connie Wayne Lester and three brothers Rondal, Murl and Tennyson Lester
Funeral services will be Tuesday March 5, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday March 4, 2013 from 2:00 - 8:00 at the funeral home
Donations may be made to the Summer Shade Fire Dept. in care of the funeral home at 2232 Summer Shade Road Summer Shade, Ky. 42166

RALPH GRIDER
Ralph Junior Grider, age 70 of Tompkinsville died Wednesday February 27, 2013 at the T.J.Samson Hospital in Glasgow. The Monroe county native was the minister at the North Main Church of Christ in Edmonton and taught at the Cyclone Church of Christ.
He was a son of the late Trance And Mary Susan (Anderson) Grider
He is survived by one daughter Mary Ann Grider of Tompkinsville and two brothers: Billy (Shirley) Grider and Barlow Grider of Burkesville. as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lee Ann (Strode) Grider; two sisters Inez Hagan and Jenny Lee Hunter and one brother Malcolm Grider
Funeral services will be Saturday- March 2, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Cyclone Church of Christ with burial to follow at the Bailey Cemetery. Visitation wll begin Friday March 1, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home. It will continue at the funeral home Saturday morning untin 10:30 and after 11:00 at the Cyclone Church of Christ until funeral time.

EDNA EARL (HOOD) HUFF
Edna Earl Hood Huff, age 86, of Edmonton died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Metcalfe County Health Care.
She was retired and was a daughter of the late Herbert and Lillie (Kingrey) Hood.
She is survived by four sons; Danny (Lou) Crumpton of Austin Tracy, Gary (Kim) Crumpton of Austin, Phillip (Susan) Crumpton of Glasgow and David (Sandy) Crumpton of Horse Cave; two daughters Ronneta (Ronnie) Morgan of Glasgow and Loretta (Douglas) Garmon of Knob Lick. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, one sister Virginia England of Edmonton, one sister-in-law Barbara Hood of Eighty Eight as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands: Tom E. Riley, Rondal Crumpton and William Joe Huff, one brother Joe Hood and one sister Mary Sneed.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 26 at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the White Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 25 at the funeral home.

Kenneth Radford Ballard
Kenneth Radford Ballard, age 73, of Willow Shade died Thursday, February 14 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville. He was a farmer and the son of the late Radford and Sallie Fansler Ballard.
He is survived by four daughters, Sharon (Tim) Turner, Sandy (Greg) Moss, Carol York and April (Lucas) Syra all of Edmonton: two sons, Harold Ballard of Tompkinsville and Bryan Ballard of Edmonton; two sisters, Ruby Hendershott of Chicago and Helen Miller of Alaxandria, Ky. ; eight grandchildren Amanda Wilson, Sarah Brown, Emily Blythe, Megan and Daniel Moss, Tyler Rigsby and Skiler and Keegan Pearson nine great grandchildren Hayden, Cameron, Logan, Mason, Easton and Ava Wilson, Jaxson and Ace Daugherty and Payton Brown. He is also survived by his ex wife, friend and mother of his children Rachel Ballard as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Ray and Kyle Ballard and five sisters Evelyn Ballard, Delcie Propes, Odell Norris, Jane Durrett and Alane Shoopman.
Serving as pallbearers are Tyler Rigsby, Daniel Moss, Lucas Syra, Tim Turner, Greg Moss, Kenneth Blythe, Brian Wilson and Todd Perry.
Funeral Services will be Sunday, February 17 at 2:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Saturday February 16, at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

BARRY LYNN HODGES
Barry Lynn Hodges, age 45, of Summer Shade, died Sunday, February 10 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky. He was a farmer and the son of Loyd Hodges, of Summer Shade and the late Brenda Lyons Hodges. In addition to his father, he is also survived by 2 sisters, Tammy Hodges and Karyn Hodges of Summer Shade. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Helma Lyons of Tompkinsville, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 13, at 1:00 PM at Goodson Chapel Methodist Church with Bro. Darrick Proffitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, February 12 at 4:00 PM at the funeral home and will be after 11 at the church on Wednesday until time for the funeral.
Memorials are suggested to Kosair Hospital or the Summer Shade Fire Department.
