Rondal Dale (Ronnie) Walker

Rondal Dale “Ronnie” Walker, age 62, of Glasgow, died Monday, Dec, 28, 2015 at his home.
Born January 7, 1953, he was the son of the late Elzie, Jr and Anita Jean Jones Walker and the husband of Deborah Lyons Walker, who survives.
He was an independent truck driver.
Survivors, other than his wife, include a daughter, Melissa and her husband Denny Brooks of Glasgow, and Papa to his grandchildren Haley and Kayla Brooks. One niece, Jennifer Rodriguez and her 4 daughters, 2 nephews Bobby Woodcock and Jeremy Woodcock.  Also surviving is a good friend, Gary Crews  
He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley and brother, Anthony.


Memorial services will be held at a later time, as cremation was chosen.

BARBARA JEAN GROCE RIDDLE


    Barbara Jean Groce Riddle, age 76, of Glasgow, died Saturday, December 26, 2015, at NHC in Glasgow.
   Born January 7, 1939 in Summer Shade, she was a daughter of the late Cordell and Mae Shaw Groce, and the widow of the late Cletus Riddle.
  She was a housekeeper.
   Survivors, include two daughters, Janetta Ervin, Edmonton, and Teresa (Daryl)  Hurt, Glasgow;  two sons, Timothy E. (Penny) Riddle, Edmonton, and Richard Riddle, Glasgow; one sister, Sue Mosier, Knob Lick; five grandchildren, Timmie Wayne Ervin, Sarah Ervin, Shannon Maulden, Adam Hurt, and Colbie Riddle; and five great grandchildren.
   Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a half brother Johnny Collins.
   Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother Greg Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will begin Monday, December 28, 2015 at 1:00 PM and after 7:00 AM Tuesday, until time of services.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Beaumont Cemetery.

SUE ANN CLARK SHIVE



   Sue Ann Clark Shive, age 76, of Summer Shade, died Monday, December 21, 2015, at her residence.
   Born June 18, 1939 in Summer Shade, she was a daughter of the late Odell and Dorothy Pedigo Clark, and the wife of Phillip Shive, who survives. They were married December 26, 1956.
   She worked at the bank of Summer Shade and Edmonton State Bank. She was a member of the Missionary Mound Baptist Church.
    Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one daughter, Martha (Danny) Bragg, Edmonton; one son, Mike (Diana) Shive, Summer Shade; four grandchildren, Daniel (Alley) and Brandon Bragg, Cole  and Kara Brooke Shive; and one great grandchild Rory Bragg.

   Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the Missionary Mound Baptist Church, with Brother Dale Copas officiating. Burial will follow in the Missionary Mound Cemetery. Visitation will begin Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at 2:00 PM at McMurtrey Funeral Home and on Wednesday after 7:00 AM at the funeral home and after 10:00 until time of services at the Missionary Mound Church.

Michael Blackburn

Michael Wayne Blackburn, age 54 of Summer Shade died December 10, 2015 at his residence.
Born August 14, 1961 in Chicago, IL.to the late Robert and Geneva Simpkins Blackburn.
He was a nurse and of the Baptist faith as well as a veteran of the Army.
Survivors  are two sisters Rhonda (Chris) Allen of Central City and Margaret Banks of Georgia; three brothers Terry Blackburn of Central City, Donnie and Randy Blackburn of Chicago, one very special friend David Young and 35 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by one brother Bobby Banjo Blackburn.

Funeral services will be Saturday December 12, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until Funeral time of 3:00. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.

BONNIE LOUISE CONATSER GORDON


      Bonnie Louise Conatser Gordon, age 76, of Summer Shade, died Sunday, December 6, 2015, at the Monroe Health and Rehab.
   Born June 18, 1939 in Burkesville, she was a daughter of the late Warsh Conatser and Maude Anderson Conatser, and the wife of the late Charles E. Gordon.
   She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith.
   Survivors include two daughters Betty Bartley and her husband Michael, of Edmonton, and Barbara (Bobbie) Hawkins  and her husband Ricky, of Edmonton; one son, Donald (Duck) Gordon and his fiancĂ© Lois Brown, Summer Shade;  four sisters, Jessie White, Alene Hurt, Lee Ann Gillentine, and Betty Porter, all of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Amanda (Kevin) Allen, Tompkinsville, Samantha (Kelly) Vibbert, Willow Shade, Don (Brittney) Gordon Jr, Summer Shade, Ellen (Angel) Gordon, Morgantown, and Charles R. (Chuckie) Gordon; seven step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, Coy and Troy Allen, Payslee and Bailey Vibbert, William (Willie) Smith, McKenzie Gordon,  and Neely Gordon; and 8 step great grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death besides her parents and husband, by one great grandchild, Shaylee Vibbert; one sister Beatrice Reed; and two brothers Sid and Barlow Conatser.
   Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother Jerry Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Flat Cemetery. Visitation will begin Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at 1:00 pm and after 7:00 am on Wednesday, until time of services.
   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the funeral fund.

Paul William Clark

Paul William Clark, age 62 of Summer Shade died November 26, 2015 at his home.
Born October 6, 1953 in Elkhart, In. to the late Danny Leroy Clark and Frankie Weist Clark who survives.
He was an automobile mechanic for 26 years at Del’s Marathon in Elkhart, In. and was a truck driver for Dickerson Lumber in Summer Shade
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Lorena Truex Clark, one daughter Brandy (Foxx) Bauer of Edmonton, two sons Andy (Tracy) Clark of Edwardsburg Mich. and Casey (Amber) Clark of Glasgow; Eight grandchildren Christopher, Cory, Dakota, Paige, Ivy, Lily, Logan and Zee. Sisters Peggy (Gus) Ask and Sandy and Ava Clark of Elkhart. brothers Franklin (Tammy) Clark of Elkhart and Larry and Johnny Clark of Mich.
Memorial services will be held later as cremation was chosen.

Sandra Cilyok

Sandra Kaye Pedigo Cilyok, age 71 of Elizabethtown Died November 19, 2015 at her sons residence.
Born August 24, 1944 in Glasgow to the late Buel and Lois Eaton She was a retired accountant and a member of Graveheartland church in Elizabethtown, Ky.
She is survived by two sons; Timmy (Rita) Matthews of Summer Shade and Tom (Taw) Matthews of Fairfax, Virginia, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister Anna Pedigo (Russell) Combs of Bowling Green and one brother Larry (Wanda) Pedigo of Kissimmee, Fl
In addition to her she was preceeded in death by her husband Mike Cilyok and two brothers Frog and Doodle Pedigo.
Memorial services will be held later as cremation was chosen.

BENNIE LEE DUBREE


   Bennie Lee Dubree, age 79, of Summer Shade, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Glasgow Health and Rehab.
   Born June 18, 1936 in the Persimmon community, he was a son of the late John Barlow Dubree and Ruby Bartley Dubree, and the husband of Loretta Murley Dubree, who survives.
   He was retired from Green Mechanical, and of the Church of Christ faith. He was a founding director of the Summer Shade Fire Department.
   Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Greg and his wife Myra Dubree, Summer Shade and Jeff Dubree, Summer Shade; two grandchildren Jordan (Peanut) Harper and her husband Lee Harper, and Tyler Dubree;  one great grandchild, Jensen Harper; two sisters, Sue Wheat, Tompkinsville, and Linda Jones, Glasgow; and two brothers, John Dubree, Naples, FL and Kermit Dubree, Tompkinsville.
   He was preceded in death besides his parents, by two brothers James C. and David Dubree, and one sister Myrtle Dubree; three half brothers Wallace, Carl and Marshall Dubree and two half sisters, Chole Frances Birge and Melba Campbell.
   Funeral services will be Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 1:00 pm and on Sunday, November 12, 2015 after 7:00 am until time of services.

HAROLD (BROWNIE) KENNETH LESTER



   Harold (Brownie) Kenneth Lester, age 70, of the Willow Shade Community, died,Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at his home.
   Born January 20, 1945 in Willow Shade, he was a son of the late Murl Hughes Lester and Rena Belle Shaw Lester, and the husband of Lois Friend Lester who survives. They were married for 52 years.
   He was a farmer and a member of the Willow Shade Church of Christ.
   Survivors , in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Tammy (David) Highfill, MO; two sons, Chad (Monica) Lester, CO and Kevin (Amy) Lester, MO; 8 grandchildren, Tara  Koontz, Quartnie Breshears, Chelsy Lester, Logan Lester, Jenna Lester, Taylor Highfill, Devin Lester and Katelyn Lester.; and 5 great grandchildren, Haylee, Preston and Libby Breshears and Aaron and Donovan Koontz.
   He was preceded in death besides his parents, by one daughter Angie Lester, one grandson Conner Elijah Highfill and one brother Dale Lester.
   Funeral services will be Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Willow Shade Church of Christ with Brother Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 13, 2015, from 2:00-8:00 pm at the McMurtrey Funeral Home and from 9:00 until time of services at the Willow Shade Church of Christ.

BETTY ELLEN GENTRY THOMPSON


   Betty Ellen Gentry Thompson, age 70, of Randolph, died Sunday, November 8, 2015, at T J Samson Hospital in Glasgow.
   Born August 24, 1945 in Summer Shade, she was a daughter of the late Matry Huffman and John Edward Gentry, and the wife of Joe (Mr. Joe) Thompson, who survives. They were married 52 years.
   She was a hairdresser and worked at Save A Lot in Glasgow. She was a member of the Goodson Chapel Methodist Church.
   Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one son, Blakely Todd Thompson, Randolph; one grandchild, Blake Austin Thompson, Glasgow; one brother, Buddy (Debbie) Gentry, Summer Shade; four nieces, Rendy (Ronnie) Perkins, Marketta Acree, Tonya (Jimmy) Edwards, and Nicole Gentry; and five nephews, Steve (Sandy) Garrett, Kenny (Cheryl) Garrett, Mark (Lisa) Garrett, and Tony Garrett.
   She was preceded in death besides her parents, by two sisters, Linda Gentry and Mary Garrett; and two nephews, Mike and Robbie Garrett.
   Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 11:00 am at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 12:00 am and on Wednesday after 7:00 am, until time of services.

INER EDWARDS JONES

   Iner Edwards Jones, age 89, of Mt. Hermon, died October 17, 2015, at T J Samson Hospital.
   Born March 8, 1926 in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Raymond Coy and Vergie Richey Jones.
   He was a mechanic, a Christian, and a veteran of the Army.
   Survivors include Terry (Edna) Jones, Glasgow, and George (Joann) Jones, Tompkinsville; six brothers, Demas, Clifton, Ralph, Cecil, Danny, and Royce Jones; three grandchildren, Tiffany and Mallory Jones, and Michael Shane Smith; and two great grandchildren Camden Vest and Kaylee Smith.
   He was preceded in death besides his parents, by one brother, Veachel Jones and one sister, Avis Hood.
   Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 1:00 PM at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the DAV of Glasgow. Visitation will be Monday, October 19, 2015 from 2:00-8:00 and after 7:00 AM on Tuesday,  until time of services.

HAZEL VIRGINIA SHAW HUCKELBY


   Hazel Virginia Shaw Huckelby, age 85, of Dubre, died October 11, 2015, at Monroe County Medical Center.
   Born June 22, 1930 in Metcalfe County, she was a daughter of the late George Harrison and Bessie Franklin Shaw.
   She worked at Hanmacher and Osh Gosh B Gosh. She was a member of the Missionary Mound Baptist Church.
   Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn (Rondall) Garmon, Dubre; two grandsons, Randy (Angela) Garmon, Tompkinsville, and Craig Garmon, Dubre; two great grandchildren, Cameron and Hailee Garmon; and her care giver, Libby McIntosh.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Wilma Jean Garmon, and the father of her daughter, Preston (Pete) Huckelby.

   Funeral services will be Thursday, October 15, 2015, at 1:00 PM at the Missionary Mound Baptist Church, with Brother Dale Copas officiating. Burial will follow in the Marrowbone Cemetery. Visitation will begin Wednesday 14, 2015, at 2:00 PM at McMurtrey Funeral Home and on Thursday, October 15, 2015 after 7:00 AM until 11 at the funeral home and at the Missionary Mound Baptist Church at 12:00 PM until time of services.

PATRICIA (PAT) ELEANOR JONES JESTER



   Patricia (Pat) Eleanor Jones Jester, age 70, of Glasgow, died Saturday, October 10, 2015, at her residence.
   Born December 12, 1944, in Summer Shade, she was a daughter of Lillian Trailer Lewis, Tompkinsville, who survives, and the late Wayne Jones.
   She was a housewife and ran a Glasgow Daily Times paper route for 20 years.
   Survivors in addition to her mother, include her companion of 35 years David Chapman; one daughter, Jeanette Van Auken, Lafayette, IN; one son, John (Roma Lynn)Whitlow, Lafayette, IN; three step daughters, Robin Roberts, AZ, Rita Stephens, Ft. Wayne, IN, and Rhonda Chiddester, Angola, IN; one brother, Leroy Jennings, Tompkinsville;  four grandchildren, Isaiah Van Auken, Jennifer Rose Whitlock,  Johnna Whitlock, and Judy Ruth Whitlock; eight step grand children; two great grandchildren and one step great grand child.
   She was preceded in death by her father, two sons, Michael Anthony Jester and Terry Holden Jester and one brother Darrell Jones.
   Funeral services will be Monday, October 12, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 11, 2015,  from 2:00-7:00 PM, and on Monday after 7 until time of services.

   James Thomas Anderson, age 50, of Marrowbone, died September 22, 2015, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.
    Born May 31, 1965 in Burkesville, he was a son of the late Floyd Thomas Anderson and Bronda Jewell Gearlds Anderson, who survives.
    Survivors in addition to his mother, include two sisters, Sherry (Junior) Perdue, Burkesville and Beth Anderson, Marrowbone and one brother Jesse Gid Anderson, Glasgow.
    He was preceded in death besides his father, by one sister Sheila Short, and his grandparents Claudie and Lydia Gearlds and Gid and Emma Anderson.

    Funeral services will be Friday, September 25, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Joe Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 1:00 until 8:00 and on Friday after 7:00 until time of services.

John Maxwell Forbis


John Maxwell Forbis, age 62 of Summer Shade, died Tuesday September 15, 2015 at the T J Samson hospital in Glasgow of natural causes.
Born in Barren County and he was a son to the late Stanley and Virginia (Riley) Forbis.  He attended Western Ky. University and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by one brother Dr. Frank (Marilyn) Forbis of Hopkinsville, one niece Amy Lynn(Jason) Wilson and two great nieces Jacey and Jamie Wilson and cousins Roger, Jason and Tommy Forbis.
In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by one brother Henry Forbis and a cousin Kenny Forbis.
Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 at 10:00 A. M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade with Bro. Mark Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the White cemetery in Sulphur Lick.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 4 – 7 P.M. and on Friday from 7:00 A.M. until the funeral at 10: 00 A.M.

   Rollin Depp Harbison, age 97, of Summer Shade, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Metcalfe County Health Care.
   Born October 7, 1917 in Summer Shade, KY, he was a son of the late Edgar and Laura Depp Harbison. He was the husband of the late Willie Lee Harbison.
   He was a farmer and a member of the Summer Shade Christian Church.
   Survivors include two sons, Eddie (Patty) Harbison, Summer Shade and Danny ( Pat Morris) Harbison, Summer Shade; three grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Harbison,  Edmonton and Savannah Howell, Summer Shade; one step grand child, Shelly Mc Intyre, Summer Shade;  three great grandchildren, Carter Harbison, Maddie Harbison, and Cheyenne Howell; two step great grandchildren, Lucas McIntyre and Sierra Garmon; and one niece Betty Jean Carey,  and one nephew Steve Harbison.
   He was preceded in death besides his parents, and wife by one brother Richard Harbison.
   Funeral services will be Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Summer Shade Christian Church, with Brother Bob Priest and David Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Friday, September 11, 2015, at 4:00 pm at the McMurtrey Funeral Home and on Saturday after 7:00 am at the funeral home and after 10:00 at the Summer Shade Christian Church until time of services.

SHERRY LYNN RICE COGAR


   Sherry Lynn Rice Cogar, age 70, of Summer Shade, died Saturday, August 29, 2015, at T J Samson Hospital.
   Born April 30, 1945 in Akron, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Nathan and Emma Masters Rice and the wife of Velmar Lee Cogar, who survives. They were married for 52 years.
   She was a christian, seamstress and housewife.
   Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one daughter Donna (Jimmy) Mosby, Burkesville; two sons Daniel (Carrie) Cogar, Scottsville, and Jessie (Karina) Cogar, Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Molly Schumate, Ohio; one brother Joe Rice, Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren Elijah Cogar, Anika Mosby, Katelyn Huntsman, Rayleigh Huntsman and Gracie Hayes; and one great grandchild Aspen Cogar.
   She was preceded in death by one son, Jason Cogar and four sisters Dora, Pauline, Pat, and Margie.
   Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Union # 2 Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 31, 2015 from 2:00 until 8:00 PM and continue on Tuesday after 7:00 until time of services.

     Lowell Donald Branstetter, age 82 of Tompkinsville, KY, died Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Monroe Health and Rehab Center.
     Born December 5, 1932 in Summer Shade, he was the son of the late Wallace Ray and Lora Ferne Barrett Branstetter.
     He was a member of the Mt Gilead Church of Christ.
     Survivors include one sister, Linda (Jimmy) High of Tompkinsville, KY.  Two brothers, Derald (Maxine) Branstetter of Anchorage, KY and Ronnie (Linda) Branstetter of Tompkinsville, KY and several nieces and nephews.
     Funeral services will be Saturday, August 22, 2015.  Viewing will start at 10:00 AM on the 22nd and funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM on the 22nd.

   Harold Phillip Harper, age 74, of Tompkinsville, KY, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Monroe County Medical Center.
   Born September 16, 1940 in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Delphia Spears Harper, and the husband of Joyce Ann Blankenship Harper who survives.
   He was a telephone construction worker and a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ.
   Survivors, include three daughters, Janetta (Dickie) Kirk, Tompkinsville, Sharon (Gary) McMurtrey, Summer Shade, and Karen (Jimmy) Moore, Marrowbone; three sons, Harold Phillip (Teressa) Harper, Jr., Summer Shade, Ashley (Sarah) Harper, Summer Shade, and Wesley (Angela) Harper, Summer Shade; two sisters, Kathryn (Cecil) Shaw, Livingston, and Linda (Joyal) Hodges, Tompkinsville;  twelve grandchildren, Jared Harper, Dustin Kirk, Russ, Emily, and Ty McMurtrey, Jamie Davis, Justin Moore, Travis and Jacob Harper, Hunter Harper, Zach and Abby Harper; and five great grandchildren, Nathan and Finn Harper, Samuel Harper, Harper Davis, and Owen McMurtrey.

LUCY BELLE HUFF


   Lucy Belle Huff, age 63, of Edmonton, died Tuesday, August 04, 2015, at T J Samson hospital in Glasgow.
   Born January 10, 1953, in Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Ora Mae Page Huff.
   She was a nurse’s aide.
   Survivors include one daughter, Carol Huff, Glasgow; two sons, Danny Huff and Ricky Huff of Edmonton; and four grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, Josh and Aaliyah.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, David Joe Huff, and one sister Helen Huff.

MARGARET MARIE SMITH EDMINSTON MORRIS


   Margaret Marie Smith Edmiston Morris, age 69, of Summer Shade, died Sunday, August 2, 2015, at NHC in Glasgow.
   Born December 24, 1945, in Springfield, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late George and Edith Bartley Smith.
   She was a housewife and farmed. She was of the Baptist faith.
   Survivors, include one daughter, Carol (Jason) Young, Summer Shade; three sons, Tommy Edmiston, Edmonton, Craig Edmiston, Summer Shade and Johnny (Vera) Edmiston, Pikeville, Ky; two sisters, Shirley and Mary Ann Smith,  both of Ohio; four brothers Harold, Howard, and Mairon Smith, all of Ohio and Robert Smith, of Pikeville, Ky; eleven grandchildren, Paytron, Johnna, Justin, Makayla, Dustin, Gregory, Josh, Chuck, Tyler, Katie, and Josh; and four great grandchildren, Kynleigh, Kayleigh, Grayson, and Aubrey.
   She was preceded in death, by her husband, Glen Morris, one daughter, Edith Edmiston, one grandchild, Colton Young, and several brothers and sisters.

   Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at 1:00 pm at McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Family cemetery. Visitation will begin Monday, August 3, 2015, at 2:00 pm, and continue after 7:00 am Tuesday, August 4, 2015, and after 7:00 am on Wednesday until time of services.

ERIC JAMES EDNEY ARNETT


   Eric James Edney Arnett, age 36, of Tompkinsville, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at his residence.
   Born June 22, 1979 in Glasgow, he was a son of Linda Grace Lollar Arnett, Tompkinsville, and the late Jerry Freeman Arnett.
   He was a car lot transport driver and was baptized in the Church of Christ.
   Survivors in addition to his mother, include one daughter Raelynn Grace Arnett, Tompkinsville; two sisters, Lisa Toms, Arkansas and Katrina Lee Frazier, Tompkinsville;  one brother Kevin Arnett, Cave City; four nieces, Jaime Arnold, Jenna Burns, Jalen Toms,  Anna Arnett,  and Lexy Freeman; and two nephews Matt Bartley and Alex Freeman.
   A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 4:00 pm at the McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt Poland at a later time. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 Saturday, at the funeral home.

   Stephen Douglas Grenead, 56, of Summer Shade, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at his residence.
   Born March 11, 1959, in Tompkinsville, he was a son of Sally Imogene Billingsley  Grenead, Summer Shade, and the late Namon Grenead.
   He worked in construction and was of the Baptist faith.
   Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two sisters, Deborah (Tony) Simmons, Glasgow and Donna (Eddie) Copas, Mt. Hermon; three brothers, Daryle Grenead, Clarksville, TN, Chris (Jodi) Grenead, Columbia, TN and Brian (Shauna) Grenead; and several nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services will be Friday, July 24, 2015, at 1:00 pm at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother J W Greanead officiating. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 3:00-8:00 and on Friday after 7:00 until time of services.

JAMES STANLEY CAPPS


   James Stanley Capps, age 90, of Summer Shade, died Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Metcalfe Health Care in Edmonton, Ky.
   Born January 9, 1925 in Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Jim and Florence Riley Capps and the husband of Ruth Smith Capps, who survives.
   He retired from Louisville Water Co. and of the Methodist faith.
   Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Steve (Glenda) Capps, and Phillip (Rachel) Capps, both of Shepherdsville, KY; one sister, Sylvia Riddle, Louisville; one brother, Hayden Capps, Leitchfield, Ky; five grandchildren, Nathan (Mindy) Capps, Kelsey (Jason) Walls, Travis (Jennifer) Howlett, Tanner (Bessie) Capps, and James Trevor Capps; and seven great grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death besides his parents, by six brothers, Henry, Jerri, Clelan, Rayman, Martin, and Jim and six sisters, Frances, Minnie, Pollie, Gertrude, Bettie and Florence.
   Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 2015, at 3:00 pm at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother Meryl Young and Brother Joe Wilcoxson officiating and burial to follow in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, July 5, 2015 at 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday after 7:00 am until time of services.

LARRY THOMAS KETCHAM


   Larry Thomas Ketchem, age 66, of Powell, TN, died on Monday, June 29, 2015 in Oak Ridge, TN.
   Born October 4, 1948 in Knoxville, TN   he was the son of the late Charlie Thomas Ketchem and Reba Beeler Payne.
 He was an Electrical Technician.
  He is survived by two sisters, Judy Wade, Harriman, TN and Brenda Thompson, Oak Ridge, TN.a special long time friend Betty Welsh and locally by his aunt Hazel Ketchem.
  He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister.

   Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the Hiseville Cemetery.

HAROLD GENE EMBRY

   Harold Gene Embry, age 71, of the Freedom Community, died June 15, 2015, at his home.
   He was born September 14, 1943, in Lee, Kentucky. He was a son of the late Crit and Eva Embry and the husband of Dianna Embry, who survives.
   He was a brick mason and of the Baptist faith.
   Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Carol Brown, Glasgow, April (Andy) Holley, Glasgow and Shannon Lamae, TN; three sons, Matthew Stout, Glasgow, Stacy Slover, Glasgow, and Jack Slover, Williamsburg; seven grandchildren, Melissa Blankenship, Nita Morgan, Jerry Pedigo, Wyatt Pedigo, Dillon Pedigo, Jackson Slover and James Slover; and eight great grandchildren, Jeremiah Morgan, Adam Morgan, Kristi Finn, Megan Finn, Miranda Finn, Cheyenne Morgan, Taylor Pedigo and Dannielle Pedigo.
   He was preceded in death by a son, Harold Embry Jr., his grandparents, and one great grand daughter, Cheyenne Morgan.
   Funeral services will be Thursday, June 18, 2015, at 1:00 pm at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will begin Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at 1:00 pm and on Thursday, June 18, 2015, after 7:00 until time of services.

GARY DOUGLAS FORD



   Gary Douglas Ford, age 70, of Summer Shade, died Saturday, June 13, 2015, at his home, after a short illness.
   Born May 15, 1945, in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of the late Oakley Ray and Vada Halcomb Ford, and the husband of Sarah Susan Russell Ford, who survives. They were married September 6, 1975.
   He was a brick mason and a farmer.
   Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one son, John Ray and his wife Kara, of Glasgow; one sister, Gail and her husband, Rudy of Beckton, Ky.; and one grandson, Jase Ford; one niece, Sonya and her husband Gary Bragg; one nephew, Scott and his wife Chele Gillon; and a great niece and nephew Kelsey and Kyle Bragg.

   Funeral services will be Monday, June 15, 2015, at 2:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother Jordan Woodie officiating. Burial will follow in the Ford Family                Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, June 14, 2015, at 1:00 pm and on Monday after 7:00 am until time of services.

Parke Kramer Butts

        Mr. Parke Kramer Butts, age 89 of Summer Shade, died June 5, 2015 at NHC in Glasgow, Ky.
         Born July 19, 1925 in Caseyville, KY, he was the son of the late Michael VanBuren and Anna Mabel Kramer Butts.
          He a United States Marine Veteran of WW 2. He was of the Baptist faith.
          Survivors include 3 daughters, Glenda Butts (Thomas Horner) of Glasgow,   Mary Helen (Larry) Devore of Edmonton and Elizabeth (Richard) Barrett of Edmonton.  Three sons, Warren P. Butts of California, David (Cindy) Butts, of Indianapolis, and Jimmy (Vicki Worthey) Butts of Edmonton.  Also surviving is one brother Homer Kenneth (Mandy Lou) Butts of Union Co, KY
              Six grandchildren survive, Nathaniel (Kristina) Butts, Stephen (Amber Underwood) Butts, of Bowling Green, Clarissa Eich of Glasgow, John P. (Carrie) Devore, Audra (Jacob) Blasdel of Indiana and Kyle R Butts, Washington DC.
             Mr. Butts was preceded in death by his wife Mary Galena McDowell Butts, his parents, one daughter Nora Ellen Butts, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
              Visitation will be Saturday June 6, 2015 beginning at 4:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade, KY

Michael (Mike) Scott Boston, age 48, of Summer Shade, died June 2, 2015, at Leitchfield, Ky.
   Born April 7, 1967, in Columbus, Ohio, he was a son of Cecil Wayne and Carol Sue Surratt Boston, who survive.
   He was a farmer, hunter, fisherman and outdoors man...
   Besides his parents, he is also survived by one daughter, Bethany Marie Boston (Tom Orlando fiance), Summer Shade; one sister, Michele (Tim) Smith, Edmonton; and one grandson, Grayson Thomas Orlando.
   Funeral services will be Saturday, June 6, 2015, at 1:00 p.m., at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother James Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the Union # 2 Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 5, 2015, from 1:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday after 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

Roy Michael Thompson


   Roy Michael Thompson, age 58, of Tompkinsville, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at his residence.
   Born February, 18, 1957 in Tompkinsville, he was a son of the late Frank Marrs and Mary Ida Thompson, and the husband of Linda Susan Miller who survives.
   He had worked as a welder for Stephens Mfg.
   Survivors in addition to his wife, include one daughter Frankie Michelle Thompson (Adrian Alejandre), Scottsville; two sisters, Linda Hale, Tompkinsville and Lorraine Myatt, Glasgow; two brothers, Bobby and Mitchell Thompson, Tompkinsville; and two grandchildren, Zeke Sanchez and Adrian Alejandre.
   He was preceded in death by one son, Nathan Thompson.
   Funeral services will be Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 3:00, at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade. Burial will follow in the Old Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Visitation will begin Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11:00 and continue until time of services.

JOHNIE ISAC HURT


   Johnie Isac Hurt, age 59, of Summer Shade, died Monday, May 18, 2015, at his residence.
   Born February 25, 1956 in Glasgow, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Johnie and Clora Wheat Hurt and the husband of Robin Prater Hurt, who survives. They were married September 23, 1972.
   He was a self employed concrete finisher.
   Survivors in addition to his wife, include two sons, Johnie (Lottie) Hurt, Bedford, Ind. and Travis Hurt, Edmonton; two sisters, Della Pitcock, Summer Shade, and Doreen Clark, Bronston, KY; one brother, Darrell Hurt, Summer Shade; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by one brother, Landis Hurt.
   Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Beaumont Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Wednesday, May 20 and continue until time of services.

Angelia (Angie) Christena Lester

Angelia (Angie) Christena Lester, age 50, of Willow Shade, died at her residence Friday, May 15, 2015.
   She was born June 22, 1964, in Glasgow, KY, the daughter of Harold (Brownie) and Lois Friend Lester, who survive.
   She was a residential assistant in the behavioral health care industry.
   She is survived, besides her parents, by one sister, Tammy and David Highfill, Schell City, Missouri; two brothers, Chad and Monica Lester, Denver, Colorado, and Kevin and Amy Lester, Walker, Missouri; seven nieces and nephews;one special Aunt Net and many cousins.
   She was preceded in death by a nephew, Conner Elijah Highfill; one uncle, Dale Lester; and her grandparents Murl and Reena Belle Lester and Dorothy Gray.
   Memorial services will be Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 1:00 PM, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother Gary Richardson officiating. Visitation will begin Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home and will continue until time of services.

Martha Rowena Hill Hood, age 88 of Edmonton died April 29, 2015 at the Metcalfe County Health Care in Edmonton.
Born October 10, 1926 in Edmonton, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Thomas and Ann Lisa Stephens Hill.
She is survived by her caregiver Charlotte (Tim) Sparks as well as special friends Maxie and Gracie Harper, Joetta Bishop and Belinda Turner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband Mitchell Hood, one brother Carlos Hill, one infant brother and one infant sister.
Funeral services will be Friday May 1, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro. Maxie Harper officiating. Burial will follow in the Union #2 cemetery. Visitation will begin Friday May 1, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home and continue until the funeral time of 2:00.

Edith M. Wilson

   Edith M Fletcher Wilson, age 77 of Edmonton died April 22, 2015 at the T J Samson hospital.
   She was born January 21, 1938 in Beaumont Ky. to the late Raymond Thomas and Alice Grace Estes Fletcher and was a homemaker.
   She is survived by one sister Mary Nell (Freddie) Wilson of Edmonton and one brother Ray Fletcher of Edmonton as well as several nieces and nephews.
   In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband Mervin Wilson and one brother Clyde Fletcher.
   Funeral services will be Friday, April 24, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Basil Wilson cemetery. Visitation will begin Friday, April 24 at 10:00 A.M. until funeral time.

Douglas Earl ( Doug) Taylor

   Douglas “Doug” Earl Taylor, age 73, of Glasgow, passed from this life on April 8, 2015, in the comfort of his home, with his wife and children at his side.
   Born July 2, 1941 in Barren County, he was a son of the late Archie and Hazel Cary Taylor and the husband of Brenda Nichols Taylor. They were married 48 years.
   Doug was retired from Wal-Mart’s Private Fleet and a long haul truck driver of 50 years.
   He was the father of three children, Cynthia “Cindy” Corbin, Tompkinsville, Rochelle (Shad) Wood, Glasgow, and Michael Taylor and fiancĂ© Brittany Billingsley, Glasgow; Pa of five grandchildren, Jesse Frank Shirley, John Taylor Shirley, Trevor Wood, Shadda Wood, and Jameson Corbin; one sister, Janice Akin, Yuma, AZ;  four brothers, Jimmie Taylor, Glasgow, Donald Taylor, Eighty-Eight, Wilson “Bee” Taylor, Summer Shade and Larry “Joe” Taylor of Glasgow;  and his beloved Labrador, Axel.
   Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Gay Bernice Taylor.

   Funeral services will be Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 12:00 noon at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother Danny Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. DENNIS CRAIG SMITH


   Dennis Craig Smith, age 62, of Summer Shade, died Friday, April 17, 2015, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.
   Born September 11, 1952 in New York, New York, he was a son of Rufus Craige Smith, who survives, and the late Thelma Jane Weaver Smith and the husband of Thanida  Jansaengchot Smith, who also survives.
   He was an Automotive Repair Technician and a Navy veteran.
   Survivors, in addition to his wife and father, include one daughter, Jane (Casey) Hendrickson, Edmonton; one step daughter, Ueakarn Jansaengchot, Summer Shade; one son, Dennis Smith, Summer Shade; two sisters, Pat Sawyer, AZ, and Sue Roma, New Jersey; and two grandchildren, Vincent and Jasmine Hendrickson.
    In addition to his mother, he was alson preceeded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children Nancy Smith.
   Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, burial will follow in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 beginning at 10:00 AM and continue until time of services.

   Kenneth Wayne Blythe, age 52, of Edmonton, died Monday, March 30, 2015, at his residence.
   Born August, 2, 1962 in Edmonton, he was a son of the late Junior Radford and Ruby Dee Page Blythe.
   He had worked at Stephens Mfg. and was of the Baptist faith.
   He is survived by three daughters, Amanda (Brian) Wilson, Glasgow, Sarah Blythe Brown, Beaumont, and Emily Blythe, Beaumont; two sisters, Betty (Neddie) Whitlow, Beaumont, and Bonnie (Larry) Willis, Marrowbone; three brothers, Roy (Deborah) Blythe, Edmonton, Kelly Blythe, Beaumont, and James (Karen) Blythe, Beaumont; and one sister in law, Diane Blythe;  eleven grandchildren, Jaxson, Ace, Payton, Tanner, Hayden, Cameron, Logan, Mason, Easton, Ava, and Emma; and the mother of his children, Sharon Turner.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Jeremy Wayne Blythe and one brother, Ervin Blythe.
   Funeral services will be Friday, April 3, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Ray Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Star Cemetery.

Maxine Shirley


         Maxine J Brewer Shirley, age 74, of Summer Shade, KY, died March 27, 2015 at the T J Samson Hospital.
     Born October 13, 1940, in Knob Lick, Ky, she was the daughter of the late Filmore and Dorsey Crenshaw Brewer.
      Maxine, Class of 1959 graduates of Ralph Bunche High School, retired from TJ Samson Hospital where she worked as a LPN for years, then continued to work at the Monroe County Health and Rehab Center. She was a faithful member of the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church in Summer Shade where she served as Secretary/Treasure for over 40 years and a past president of the missionary society. She was a Breast Cancer Survivor. Maxine was a mother figure to many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
     She is survived by her husband of 49 years, George Leon Shirley, two sons, Lenardos (Lisa) Shirley of Knob Lick, KY and Larmarrous Shirley (Bonnie Stanton) of Atlanta, GA.. She is also survived by one sister Juanita Driver of Toledo. Two brothers, Fill Curtis Brewer and Ray Ward Brewer of Louisville.  Three grandchildren, Latrel Shirley, LaNisha (Johnny) Martin and LaVander Shirley. One great grandchild, Deant’e Martin.
 .     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother Earl Dale Brewer.
       Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at 1:00pm at Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church in Summer Shade.  Viewing will start Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 2:00 till 8 PM at the church and Wednesday at 7 AM till time for the funeral. Burial will be in the Trinity Lane Cemetery in Summer Shade.

Dorella Dyer

      Dorella Emberton Dyer, age 73, of Glasgow, KY, died March 26, 2015 at the TJ Sampson Hospital in Glasgow, KY.
     Born July 30, 1941, in Tompkinsville, she was the daughter of the late Ollie J. and Myrtle Harlan Emberton.
      She is survived by one son, Gary Dyer and Michelle. One grandson Chase Dyer and Breanna.  Two sister in laws,   Elva Emberton of Tompkinsville and Caroll Dyer of Indianapolis, Indiana. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
       In addition to her parents,  she was preceded in death by her husband W.D. Dyer, one son, Terry Michael Dyer and two brothers Marshall and Morris Emberton.
        Funeral services will be Monday, March 30, 2015 at 1:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, March 29, at 4:00 PM  and after 7:00 AM on Monday, until time for services.

Jerry Hammer

 Jerry Hammer, age 78, of Tompkinsville, died March 26,2015, at the Monroe County Medical Center, Tompkinsville, Ky.
  Born August 10, 1936, in Tompkinsville, he was the son of the late Richard Tennessee and Vessie Ford Hammer and was a veteran of the Army.
   Survivors include, one daughter, Jeanene (Mark) LaMaster of Palos Hills,  Illinois. One stepson, Steve (Stephanie) Wright of Greenfield, Indiana. Three brothers, Travler Hammer of Tompkinsville.
High (Marie) Hammer of Greenfield, Indiana and Charles Hammer.
   He was preceded in death by a step daughter Teresa Wright, Two brothers, Calvin and Cass Hammer and two sisters, Tonnie Giddings and Vida Roth, and his former wife, Betty Hammer.
   Funeral services will be Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 2:00 at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade with burial to follow at the Hammer Cemetery. Viewing will start Saturday, March 28, at 3:00 PM and after 8:00 AM on Sunday  until time for the funeral.

KATHERINE JOAN THACKER LONG

Katherine Joan Thacker Long, age 64, of Edmonton, died March 18, 2015, at her daughters residence in Edmonton, Ky.
   Born February 3, 1951, in Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Gladys White Baker and Floyd Thacker. She was the widow of the late James Long.
 Survivors  include one daughter Martha Long, Edmonton; one son, Dillion Branham, Edmonton; three sisters, Barbara Shaw, Summer Shade, Wanda Baker, Summer Shade, and Martha Jo Ruffner, Crawfordsville, IN; four brothers Jimmy White, Summer Shade, Floyd Thacker Jr., Burkesville, Elvis Thacker, Burkesville, and Roger Thacker Crawfordsville, IN; four grandchildren, James Thompson, Tara Corbin, Natalie Branham, and Annabelle Branham; and three great grandchildren, Ethan Thompson, Jayden Thompson, and Aleeah Thompson.
   She was preceded in death by two sons, Harold Long and Wendell Branham, and one brother Keith Thacker.
   Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin, Friday, March 20, 2015, at 2:00 PM and after 7:00 PM on Saturday, until time of services.’

Melba Renee (Sissy) Bowe

Melba Renee (Sissy) Bow, age 41 of Dickson, Tn. formerly of Tompkinsville died March 13 at the Medical Center in Scottsville.
Born January 24, 1974 she was the daughter of the late Willard Swanger and Carolyn Swanger Hall who survives. She was employed by the Monroe County Board of Education.
In addition to her mother she is survived by two sons, Charles D. Hall of Dickson, Tn and Waymond Bowe of Tompkinsville one step brother Ricky Swanger of Dickson.
In addition to her father she was preceeded in death by her husband Kenneth Bowe, brother Jimmy Swanger and grandparents Charlie and Melba Dady.

A memorial service will be held Saturday – March 21, 2015 at the Red Hill Church in Tompkinsville. Visitation will begin Saturday at 1:00.

HARRY LLOYD (BUCK) CONFER


   Harry Lloyd (Buck) Confer, age 81, of Glasgow, formally of Marietta, GA, departed this earth on March 6, 2015, at NHC Healthcare.            
   He was born January 22, 1934 in Clarion, PA. He was a son of the late James and Elva (Blair) Confer, and the loving husband of Sue (Thrasher) Confer, who survives.
   He was a commercial painter and a member and Trustee of Cornerstone Church of Edmonton, Ky, and a veteran of the Air Force.
   Besides his loving wife, he is survived by five daughters, Brittany (Timothy) Ennis, Edmonton, Lea (Tim) Glass, Corbin, Ky, Michelle (Jeff) Compton, Edmonton, Carol (Louis) Confer, and Rose Confer, Marietta, GA; four sons, Bill (Cherry) Confer, Douglasville, GA, Troy (Janiece) Confer, Woodstock, GA, Mark (Tara) Polson, Monroe, GA and Andy (Kathy) Holcomb, Glasgow: two brothers, Dean (Betty) Confer and George (Dorla) Confer, Clarion, PA; two sisters, Faye (Jim) Begley, and Helen Custer, Clarion, PA; twelve grandsons, thirteen granddaughters, fifteen great granddaughters and two great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
   Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Confer and two sisters, Alice Kiser and Inez Reedy.
   Funeral services will be Monday, March 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Bro Mark Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2015, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and continue after 7:00 AM, Monday until time of services.

   Memorials may be made to the Summer Shade Fire Department or the DAV of Glasgow.

DEMPSEY KEITH ANDERSON

Dempsey Anderson, age 80, of Summer Shade, died Saturday, February 28, 2015, at NHC Health Care in Glasgow.
   Born August 28, 1934 in Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Mildred Anderson and Alvis Anderson. He was the husband of Ruby C White Anderson who survives. They were married February 24, 1973.
   He was retired from Caring Spinning Co. and of the Baptist faith.
   Survivors, in addition to his wife, include six step daughters; one brother, Jimmy Douglas Anderson; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by one step daughter, Helen Faye Jennings and one sister Phyllis Gilbert. 
   Funeral services will be Monday, March 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Mark Parks officiating, burial will follow in the Leslie Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, March 1, 2015, at 3:00 PM and after seven on Monday until time of services.

Ray Allen Brewster

   Ray Allen Brewster, age 91, of Summer Shade, died Monday, February 9, 2015, at NHC Healthcare, Glasgow.
   Born April 12, 1923 in Burkesville, Ky., he was a son of the late Andy and Nannie Westmoreland Brewster and the husband of Betty Baker Brewster, who survives. They were married 68 years.
   He was a farmer, of the Baptist faith, and a World War II veteran of the Navy.
   He is survived by one granddaughter, Shannon (John) Key, Summer Shade; two great grandchildren, Luke and Corbyn Key; and one daughter in law, Lela Shaw Brewster.
   He was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip Dale and infant son Roger Brewster; six brothers, Thomas, Albert, Bill, Otis, Claude, and Roy Brewster; and one sister Florence Dicken.
   Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at 1:00 PM at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Bro Mark Parks, officiating, and burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at 12:00 AM until 8:00 PM and continue Wednesday morning after 7:00 AM until time of services.

Varessa Miller Johnson

Vanessa Miller Johnson, age 37 of Camden Arkansas died February 4, 2015 at her home.
She was born March 15, 1977 in Glasgow to Mitchell Miller and Julie Jennings Miller Vaughn who survive.
In addition to her parents she is survived by one daughter Kierra Moore of Camden and by her maternal grandparents Billy Joe and Janice Jennings and paternal grandfather Cletus Miller.
She was preceeded in death by her paternal grandmother Francis Miller.

A celebration of her life will be held Sunday February 8, 2015 from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. at the Brotherhood Freewill Baptist Church in Glasgow, Ky.

Charles Ernest Hutton

Charles Ernest Hutton, age 62 of Edmonton died January 29, 2015 at T J Samson Hospital.
Born January 3, 1953 in Mt Carmel, Ill, he was a son of the late Ernest Hutton and Hazel Warren Hutton Miskell.
 He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Matthews Hutton, three daughters, Christine (Jon Burch) Hutton of Glasgow; Sebrina Hutton and Heather Hutton of Edmonton.  Two sons, Michael (Candace) Hutton and Charles W Hutton of Edmonton.  Six sisters, Wanda, Betty and JoAnn of Glasgow; Ruby of Indiana; Laurie and Barbara Ann of Illinois.  One brother, William of Indiana. Seven grandchildren, Christian,Tyler, Madison, Brynlee, Gavyn, Mayson and Adalynn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Johnson Hutton and three sisters Francis, Violet and Kay.
 Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 1:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Meadow Cemetery.   Visitation will begin on Friday, January 30 at 1:00    and continue after 7:00 AM Saturday, until time of services.

Emma Jean (Jeanie) Bass Hughes

 Emma Jean (Jeanie) Bass Hughes, age 84, of Edmonton, died January 23, 2015, at T J Samson Hospital.
 Born March 26, 1930, in Marvel, Arkansas, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Lucy Dulaney Bass. She was the wife of the late Mackie Hughes.
  She was the owner of Hughes Grocery for 24 years. She was of the Baptist faith.
  Survivors include two daughters, Debra (Dwight) Daugherty, Edmonton, and Lynna (Tim) Hughes-Baker, Bowling Green; three grandchildren, Bethany Young, Edmonton, Pamela McKinney Mosby, Glasgow and Jamison Hunley, Scottsville; four great grandchildren, Emily Young and Hali Mosby, Edmonton, Latasha Mosby, Glasgow, and Gretchen Mosby, Bowling Green; one great great grandchild Jaci Dlayne Sweet, Edmonton; and one brother Harold (Ozane) Bass, Paris TN.
  She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Stanley, Herbert, Homer, and Cecil Bass, and one sister, Katie Ruth Bass.
  Cremation was chosen and private services will be held at a later date.
  Memorials can be made through the McMurtrey Funeral Home to the American Heart Association.

John Wayne Rouse

John Wayne Rouse, age 60 of Tompkinsville, Ky. died January 21at his residence.
Born April 9, 1954 in Glasgow, Ky.. He was the son of the late Johnie Thomas and Lucy Mae Riddle Rouse.
 He worked with refrigeration in the restaurant industry.
He is survived by one daughter, Emily (fiancé Steven Dyson ) Rouse of Florida. Two sisters Patsy (Tommy) York and Lue Mae (Lannie) Brown of Tompkinsville. Three brothers, Roger (Judy) Rouse, Dean (Jane) Rouse and Tony (Stacey) Rouse of Tompkinsville.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday January 25, 2015 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 1:00 till 4:00.

Cremation has been chosen.

Georgia Moody

Georgia Thelma Moody, age 82 of Tompkinsville, Ky. died January 21, 2015 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.
Born February 4, 1931 in Waterview, Ky. She Was the daughter of the late Fred Douglas and Mattie Barksdale Moody.
She was a housekeeper and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Alma Moody of Tompkinsville and Kathelene (Miss Kitty) Moody of Louisville. Three sons, Tommy and Wendell Moody of Tompkinsville and Freddie (Pansy) Moody of Danville. One sister Iva Lee Coe of Indianapolis, In.. Two grand children Tiara Bush and Lori Moody. Four great grand  children Garren, DyiRon, Haven and Canaan Moody.
In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by one sister Nettie Kate Bailey, three brothers Willie T,, Truman (TL) and Marvin Moody.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Bushong Cemetery. Visitation will begin Friday January 23 from 4:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home and after 7:00 A.M. on the 24th until funeral time.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kidney Foundation, Heart Association or the Diabetes Association and can be left at the funeral home.

CLYDE EDWARD PENNINGTON

   Clyde Edward Pennington, age 82, of Edmonton, died January 15, 2015, at T J Samson Hospital.
   Born June 29, 1932 in Edmonton, he was a son of the late Walter and Janie Garmon Pennington.
   He was a farmer and of the Holiness faith.
   Survivors include Kathy (Clay Cox) Hurt, Bowling Green, Sheila (Alan) Hornback, New Albany, IN, Bonnie (Marty) Devore, Springfield, Ky, Betty Wilson, Burkesville, and Janie Pennington, Burkesville; one son, Tommy (Kirby England) Pennington, Edmonton; one stepdaughter Martha Norris, Summer Shade; one sister Della Davidson, Burkesville; twelve special  grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Pennington, the mothers of his children, Shirley Perkins Pennington and Dorthy Devore Pennington; eight brothers, Perry, Rab, Leon, Thomas, Lester, Elbert, Willie and Paul Pennington; three sisters, Stella Stilts, Bina Bunch, Mary and Pearlie Pennington; and one step daughter, Mary Bryant.
   Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, in Summer Shade. Visitation will begin on Saturday, January 17, 2015, from 2:00-8:00 PM, and continue Sunday morning after 7:00 AM until time of services.

DANA NUNNALLY SYMPSON

   Dana Nunnally Sympson, age 82, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Barren County Health Care Center following an extended illness.
   A native of Metcalfe County, Mrs. Sympson was born and raised in the Summer Shade Community. Born March 24, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Pauline Hodges Nunnally, and widow of the late Robert E. Sympson.
   She was a member of the Summer Shade Christian Church. Prior to becoming ill, she was active in her church and the adult Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Metcalfe County Homemakers and enjoyed working in the real estate business. She had also worked as an aide at Summer Shade Elementary School. She and her late husband, lived in Beaumont and worked in Metcalfe County until 1973. At that time they moved to Crawfordsville, Indiana, where Mr. Sympson worked for several years in the industrial field. The family remained there until retirement at which time they returned to their native Metcalfe County, where the couple lived until the death of Mr. Sympson. At that time Mrs. Sympson moved to Glasgow.
   She especially loved traveling with friends and sharing time with her family.
   She is survived by two daughters, Connie Sympson (Darrell) Pickett, Glasgow and Kay  Sympson (Michael) Landis, Columbia, TN.; five grandchildren, Karen (Michael) Bush, Tracy, Dr. Laura (Bryant) Brantley, Franklin, TN, Doug (Lorie) Bunch, Glasgow, Leslee (Ben) Marshall, Thompson’s Station, TN and Angelia (Dr. Jason) Chirichigno, Beverly Hills, CA; seven great-grandchildren, Seth Bush, Tracy, Cole and Haley Bunch, Glasgow, Sarah Brantley, Franklin, TN, Elodey Marshall, Thompson’s Station, TN and Mary Rachel and Griffin Chirichigno, Beverly Hills, CA; one sister, June Hurt, Louisville, and one brother, Gerald (Janet) Nunnally, Bowling Green; two nieces Alicia (Mike) McClure, Bowling Green, Marla Ingram, Ohio, and Jim (Peggy) Wallace, Bowling Green.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two infant siblings.
   Funeral services will be Friday, January 16, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother Bob Priest officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and on Friday after 7:00 AM until time of services.

JOE EDWARD DUBREE


   Joe Edward Dubree, age 76, of Clarkson, Ky., died Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Hospice House in Bowling Green.
   Born May 19, 1938 in Kino, he spent his early years in Monroe County, Kentucky. He was a son of the late Arthur and Lola Wallace Dubree and the husband of the late Rebecca Hammer Dubree.
    He was a retired electrician, and a member of the Clarkson Church of Christ.
   He is survived by two sons, Michael Joe (Karen) Dubree, Shepherdsville, and Darrell (Lori) Dubree, Bowling Green; two sisters Joyce (Charles) Hammer, and Gladis (Bobby) Riddle both of Greenwood, Ind.; one half brother Bedford Dubree, Ohio; four grandchildren Haley (Andrew) Gott, Nickolas Dubree, Kristi (David) Minor and Paul (Jenny) Dubree; three step grandchildren, Christine Wethington, Paul Myrick and Nancy Prather; and sixteen great grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters.
   Funeral services will be Monday, January 12 at 1:00 PM Central time, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Jack Ray, officiating, burial will follow in Old Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 11,  from 2:00 - 6:00  PM Central time, and on Monday January 12 from 7 AM until time of services  at the funeral home.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Big Reedy Christian Camp or Foundation Christian Academy in Bowling Green.
