John Larry DeVore

 

John Larry DeVore, age 77, of Edmonton, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at his home. Born April 14, 1945, in Glasgow, KY he was a son of the late John I and Maple Lougene Pedigo Devore. He was the husband of Mary Helen Butts DeVore, who survives.  They were married 44 years.

   He worked as a farmer, of the Church of Christ faith and a proud Vietnam Marine Veteran.

    Survivors include one daughter, Clarissa Jane (Raymond Thomas) Bryant, Edmonton; one son John Parke (Mary Catherine) DeVore, Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Sandra Thompson, Glasgow and Teena (Ronald) Taulbee of Winchester,Ky.; one brother, Wally (Norma) DeVore, Glasgow;  five grandchildren, Chloe Coffman-Keister, Cassandra DeVore, Hyacinth Bryant, Ashtin Bryant and Jonathan Coffman; and one brother in law, Eddie Gassaway.

  Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Joan DeVore Gassaway and one brother in law, Junior Thompson.

   Funeral services will be Monday, October 3, 2022 at1:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, Summer Shade, with Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Metcalfe County. Visitation will be Sunday, October 2, 2022, 2:00-8:00 P.M. and on Monday, October 3, 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be to the DAV.

as I learn of the passing of Larry , I immediately think how heaven is rejoicing his family that has gone before him ,they each surround him an embrace his kind soul . I remember how Larry wore many different hats in this ole world . . And I was blessed to have known him . May God so give the peace an strength priceless memories and a plan for meeting him again .
