Anna M. Huff

 


Anna M. Huff, 60, of Summer Shade, KY died Saturday, June 29, 2024, at her residence.  Born in Edmonton, KY, she was the daughter of the late Von and Flossie Mae Jessie Clemmons.  Mrs. Huff was owner and operator of her own residential cleaning service.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

 Survivors include her loving husband of 44 yrs Rondal Huff; one son Billy  “Jessie” Huff of Knob Lick, KY; three grandchildren, Cameron (Amista) Huff, Mason Huff and Chloe Huff; one sister, Judy Tomblin of Summer Shade; three brothers Tony, Lee and Timmy Clemmons all of Edmonton, KY; six brother and sisters in Laws, Tereasa “Joey” Brown, Lisa “Jimmy” Wilson, Greg Huff, Phyllis Wheeler and Diana “Phillip” Leszczewicz, along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

 The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hosparus Healthcare, Evelyn Scott, Teresa Brown, Judy Tomblin and Jessie Huff for their exceptional care given.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, Tanner Lee Huff and a brother-in-law.

 Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday, morning from 8:00 am until time of the service.

Margaret Shirley Vibbert

 

Margaret Shirley Vibbert, 106, of Summer Shade, KY, died Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Metcalfe County Healthcare Center.  Mrs. Vibbert was born May 10, 1918, in the Randolph Community, the daughter of the late Vontras and Irene Thompson Shirley.  Mrs. Vibbert was also preceded in death by her husband Clarence Vibert., she was a longtime member of the Hickory College Church of Christ, a retired seamstress for Washington Mfg., and loved to quilt on her spare time.

 Survivors include her son Delbert “Crow” Vibbert of Summer Shade: a sister Lougene Wooten of Indiana: six grandchildren Vickie Witty (Larry), Patricia Davis (Kennie), Pam Spencer, Karen Miller (Kenny) all of Glasgow, Gary Spencer and Terry Spencer both of Indiana: two special friends Karen Bartley and Ray Hodge both of Summer Shade along with several nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son Bernice Spencer.


Funeral service will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 10:00am until funeral time at the funeral home.

Gary Shelly Bartley


 

Gary Shelley Bartley, age 77 of the Eighty-Eight Community passed away June 25, 2024, at his residence surrounded by family. He was born March 8, 1947, in Beaumont, Ky.to the late Raymond Farris and Opal Jane Shelley Bartley. Gary retired from SKF in Glasgow and loved trail riding and horse camps.

 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Brenda Gail Jackson Bartley; two daughters Melissa Ogles and Monica (Charlie) Harbison of Edmonton; three sons Scott Bartley of Eighty-Eight, Jeff (Phylis) Bartley of Bowling Green and Dusty (Katrina) Bartley of Eighty-Eight. Grandchildren Jase Bartley, Chris (Mattea) Ogles, Kirsten Ogles, Jase Bartley, MaKenzie Curry, Austin Curtis, Breanna (Travis) Pedigo, Kayle Pedigo, Cody McDonald and Alex McDonald; three Great grandchildren Noah Ogles, Avie Gibson and Lenice Gibson.

 

He is also survived by one sister Marjorie (Junior) Shelly and one brother Morris (Tammy) Bartley and one sister-in-law Sharon Bartley.

 

Besides his parents he was preceeded in death by three brothers Jackie, Phillip and Daryl Bartley.

 

Funeral services will be Friday June 28, 2024, at the Mcmurtrey Funeral Home at 11:00 am with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday June 27, 2024, from 3:00 till 8:00 pm at the funeral home and after 8:00 am Friday till time of funeral at 11:00 am at the funeral home.

Lawrence "Larry" Tenner

 

Lawrence “Larry” Tenner, Jr., 55, of Summer Shade, KY died June 13, 2024, at his home.  Born in Indianapolis, IN he was the son of Lawrence and Lois Maedelle McCoy Tenner.  Mr. Tenner was of the Catholic Faith.

Survivors include several cousins.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his longtime companion Carol Ingram.

 Graveside service will be held 2pm Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Pickett Cemetery in Barren County. There will be no visitation or service for Mr. Tenner.   McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade is assisting the family with their service.

Roy Melvin Houchens

 

Roy Melvin Houchens, age 79 of Tompkinsville passed away June 10, 2024, at the Barren County Nursing and Rehab. He was born February 23, 1945, in Temple Hill, Ky. to the late Zere Roy and Wilma D. Underwood Houchens. Mr. Houchens was a carpenter and a member of Caney Fork Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife Sharon Gayle Houchens; two daughters Paula (Mikel) Thompson of Tompkinsville and Robin (Shawn) Russell of Scottsville; one stepson Richard Melvin Hack; five grandchildren Shaina Russell, Gabriel Russell, Tiffany Finley, Natalie Majica and Alex Rodriques, great grandchild Elysia Miller and one on the way and one sister Ruth Ann Wyatt.

 

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by one son Timothy Melvin Houchens and stepdaughter Joli Kay Willis.

 

A memorial service will be held later as cremation was chosen.

Melinda Gayle DeWeese

 


Melinda Gayle DeWeese, age 50 of Edmonton passed away June 7, 2024, at Centennial Medical Center in Tennessee. She was born in Glasgow on October28, 1973 to the late Robert Eugene and Nelda Janette Carter DeWeese. Ms. DeWeese worked in the fast-food industry.

 

She is survived by one son Jessie (Mattie) Taylor and two stepdaughters Danielle Brewster and Kim Brewster; eight grandchildren Sophia DeWeese Taylor, Harley DeWeese Taylor, Hailey Poteet , McKenzie DeWeese Taylor, Trey Brown, Colby Brewster, Brooklyn Shirley and Olivia Shirley. She is also survived by three sisters Paula (Robert) Humphrey, Pam McKenzie and Sheila DeWeese; two brothers Timmy DeWeese and Chris DeWeese.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son Logan DeWeese Taylor, one sister Debbie Hagan and one brother Mike DeWeese.

 

Funeral services will be Wednesday June 12, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Roger Poynter officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday June 12 from 10:00 till funeral time of 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home.

 

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made toward the funeral expenses and can be left at the funeral home.
