Barbara Ann Scott


Barbara Ann Scott, 87 of Edmonton, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at the NHC Healthcare Center in Glasgow.  Born in Green County on December 6, 1936, to the late Raymond and Zell Ann Norris Martin.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Howard Scott.  Mrs. Scott retired from the Bindery Department at R R Donnelley’s, she enjoyed her flowers, taking walks and spending time with her grandchildren and family members.  Mrs. Scott was a member of the Edmonton Worship Center in Edmonton.

 Survivors include three daughters Tammie Haney (Donnie) of Randolph, KY, Patsy Hudson (Larry) of Speedway, IN, Teresa Martin of Elizabethtown: seven grandchildren Keslie (Trea) Pickett, Jacob Scott, Maverick Scott, Matthew Martin, Josh Martin, Brandon Haney, Bowen Haney: five great-grandchildren.  Along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

 In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son William (Billy) Allen Scott,  her brothers Carlos Martin Avery (Bill) Martin, and Maxie Martin.

 Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Edmonton Worship Center in Edmonton with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be 4pm until 7pm Tuesday and after 8am Wednesday at the church.

 McMurtrey Funeral Home is assisting the family with their service.

Erroll Lee Duren

 

Erroll Lee Duren, 84, of Glasgow, KY passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024, at T. J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow, KY. He was born on November 12, 1939, in Warwick, GA to the late Robert Lee and Thelma Aultman Duren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Michael Hampton Duren and two brothers Bill and John Duren. 

Mr. Duren was of the Methodist faith, a veteran of the Army National Guard, a Mason and Shriner. He enjoyed showing horses, racing cars, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Betty Duren of Glasgow, KY; a daughter Betty Jane Duren of Glasgow, KY; a grandson Robert Michael Ruthstrom of Louisville, KY and a great grandson Robert William Ruthstrom.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 4:00-6:00pm at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

Mr. Duren will be buried in Mrytle Hill Cemetery in Tampa, FL on Tuesday August 20, 2024.

James Garland "Twiddle" Twyman

 

James Garland “Twiddle” Twyman, 66, of Summer Shade, KY passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his residence. He was born on August 4, 1958, in Glasgow, KY to the late Willie Lee Twyman and Magdalene Barlow Twyman Richardson Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather Jessie Richardson, a sister Vicki Carter, and an infant brother Gregory Lynn Richardson.

 Mr. Twyman was a member of the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. “Twiddle” was a character in the Summer Shade community that everyone enjoyed poking a little fun with from time to time and “Twiddle” enjoyed poking right back at them.

 Survivors include a son Javion Jamal Twyman; three brothers Randy Richardson of Glasgow, KY, Gary Richardson (Stacy) of Horse Cave, KY, and Terry Richardson (Renee) of Edmonton, KY; a special aunt Joyce Driver and two uncles Fred and LeRoyce Barlow; a special cousin Junior Barlow and several nieces and nephews.

 Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday, August 17, 2024, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Trinity Lane Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00am-1:00pm at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

 
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Trinity Lane Cemetery and can be left at the funeral home.

Eddie Ross Nunnally

 




Eddie Ross Nunnally, age 68, of Summer Shade, KY, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, surrounded by his family. Eddie was born September 6, 1955, to the late Clyde and Lou Jean “Polson” Nunnally. Eddie was a 1973 graduate of Metcalfe County High School. He was employed by Eaton Axel Corporation for several years, and more recently, was a 22-year employee for Dickerson Lumber Company, retiring in 2023.

 

Eddie enjoyed time spent with his family, farming, and many aspects of the logging industry. Prior to illness he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing.

 

He is survived by a daughter, Megan Nunnally (Thomas Stone) of Glasgow; fiancée, Neda Young of Summer Shade; siblings; Tommy Nunnally of Edmonton, Nancy Shaw (Billy Joe) of Glasgow, and Julie Ennis (Jeff) of Summer Shade; brother-in-law, James L. Morris of Louisville; two grandchildren, Channing Jase and Chloe Avagail both of Glasgow. Along with Nedas children, Christy Walker (Marty Smith) of Summer Shade, Daniel Young (Sarah) of Summer Shade, Aaron Young (Hannah) of ST. Louis; their children, Callie Joe Walker, Eliza Young, and Elam Young; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Maxie Nunnally, Ronnie Nunnally, and Martha Nunnally Morris; along with his sister-in-law, Rebecca Bartley Nunnally.

 

There will be a public graveside service held at Summer Shade Cemetery Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 2:00pm.

 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to a scholarship fund for Eddies two grandchildren.

Henry Frank Emberton

 


Henry Frank Emberton, 93, formally of Summer Shade, KY, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow, KY. He was born in Tompkinsville, KY on August 14, 1930, to the late Willie and Savannah Crabtree Emberton.

 

Frank was a member of the Rollin Hills United Baptist Church and was saved in 1968.

 

He is survived by one sister, Carolyn Sue Geralds, of Indianapolis, IN and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 sisters; Corrine Bunch and Christine Hurst and 3 brothers; J.B. Emberton, Leon Emberton, and Veachel Emberton.

 

Funeral services will be 10:00am Saturday, August 10, 2024, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00pm until 8:00pm and will continue Saturday from 8:00am until time for the service at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

Reva Alice Crumpton Lester

 


Reva Alice Crumpton Lester, 85, of Willow Shade, KY, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Monroe County Medical Center. She was born in Summer Shade, KY on May 26, 1939, to the late Luther and Ora Hope Crumpton.

 

Reva loved crocheting, traveling, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Frank Lester; daughters, Cathy (Tim) Franklin of Glasgow, KY, Michelle Thomas of Glasgow, KY, and Shannon Lester of Willow Shade, KY; grandchildren, Kayla Early, Kelsie Martin, Ciara (Casey) Chambers, and honorary grandchild, Bryan Melton; 7 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Crumpton, Juanita Tooley, and Hazel McFarland; and very special friend and care taker, Rhonda Walton Sexton.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Birge and Earlene Mitten; and brothers, Rondall Crumpton, Robert Lee Crumpton, Richard Crumpton, and Jerry Crumpton.

 

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00pm until 8:00pm and will continue Wednesday from 8:00am until time for the service at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Dale Allen Rowlett

 


Dale Allen Rowlett, 81, of Summer Shade, KY passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, at T. J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow, KY. He was born in Carrollton, KY on December 17, 1942, to the late Roy and Emma Horner Rowlett. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Myra Gail Whitlow Rowlett.

 

Mr. Rowlett was a member of the Summer Shade Baptist Church and the former owner and operator of the Summer Shade Service Station. He was also a member and former Chief of the Summer Shade Fire Department and enjoyed farming and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

 

He is survived by three children Jeff Rowlett (Ann) of Edmonton, KY, Teresa Gray (Donnie) of Milltown, KY, and Myra Dubree (Greg) of Summer Shade, KY; eight grandchildren Nathan Rowlett (Sabrina), Marissa Rowlett, Greg Carlton (Amber), Amber Rowlett, Damien Mikel (Leslie), Bailey McClure, Tyler Dubree (Allison), and Jordan “Peanut” Harper (Lee) and twenty two great grandchildren; Two brothers David Rowlett (Sally) and Clyde Rowlett (Christy); a sister Marie Garrett and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Robert Clinton Rowlett, and two brothers Wesley Creed “WC” Rowlett and Bobby Joe Rowlett.

 

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday, August 5, 2024, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00-8:00pm and will continue Monday from 8:00am until time for the service at McMurtrey Funeral Home.
