James
Leslie Morris, age 84, of Summer Shade, KY, passed away on Saturday, September
28, 2024, in Louisville, KY. James Leslie was born April 21, 1940, to the late
Joe and Christine (White) Morris.
He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Morris Stum (Jeff Stum) of Louisville
and two grandsons, Zane Stum and Wyatt Stum both of Louisville; siblings;
Beverly Joe Morris of Nashville, Eloise Jackson of Glasgow, and Max Russell
Morris (Judy) of Glasgow; brother-in-law, Tommy Nunnally of Edmonton;
sisters-in-law, Nancy Shaw (Billy Joe) of Glasgow and Julie Ennis (Jeff) of
Summer Shade; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Martha
Nunnally Morris; along with his sisters-in-law, Betty Morris and Rebecca
Bartley Nunnally; Brothers-in-law Charles Jackson and Maxi, Ronnie and Eddie Nunnally.
James Leslie graduated Austin Tracy High School. He married Martha in 1963,
before moving to Alaska for his service in the U S Army. After his release,
James and Martha moved to Bowling Green where they lived for almost 40 years.
He spent his career as a semi-truck driver, making sales and deliveries in the South-central
Kentucky region for Renner’s Trucking and Consolidated Freights. After retiring
from Consolidated Freights and caring for Martha during her illness, in 1999 he
moved to Summer Shade where he spent over 20 years as a cattle farmer. He
served on the board of the Summer Shade volunteer fire dept and the Metcalfe
County Cattlemen’s Association. He enjoyed showing Tennessee Walking
horses, camping, fishing, hunting and boating. James was a caring and kind man,
loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He loved spending time with
family and friends and staying active.
There will be a public graveside service held at 2:00pm Saturday, October 5, 2024,
at Summer Shade Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Alzheimer’s Association.
