Frank Raven "Bear" Lester UPDATED FUNERAL DATE

 

 

BECAUSE OF THE FORECAST FOR SEVERE WINTER WEATHER, FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE 1:00PM TUESDAY, JANUARY 7, 2024 WITH VISITATION STARTING AT 8:00AM TUESDAY.

 

Frank Raven “Bear” Lester, 86, of Summer Shade, Kentucky, passed away at home on December 29, 2024. He was born on April 20, 1938, in Willow Shade. He was the son of the late Sanford Ezra Lester and Hylus White Lester. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Reva Alice Crumpton Lester and five siblings Carrie Garrett, Murl, Tennison, Raymond, and Wayne Lester.

Frank enjoyed farming, vegetable gardening, music, dancing, telling stories and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by three daughters Cathy Franklin (Tim) of Glasgow, KY, Michelle Thomas of Glasgow, KY and Shannon Lester of Willow Shade, KY; three grandchildren Kayla Early, Kelsie Martin, and Ciara Chambers (Casey) all of Glasgow, KY; seven great grandchildren Kenzie LeRoy, Braylee, Bensen, Bella, and Mariah Chambers, Keldon Martin, and Aliann Early; a honorary grandson Bryan Melton of Tompkinsville, KY; a honorary great grandchild Charleigh Melton of Tompkinsville, KY; two sisters Juanita Miller and Hazel McFarland both of Glasgow, KY; a special friend and caregiver Rhonda Walton Sexton of Glasgow, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Tuesday, January 7, 2024, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00-8:00pm and will continue Tuesday after 8:00am at McMurtrey Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Hospitality House at 501 High St. Bowling Green, KY 42101 or can be left at the funeral home.

 

Nancy Lorraine Grider

Nancy Lorraine Grider, 73, of Edmonton Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 18, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law who cherished her family above all. She was a faithful Christian and a devoted member of Dutch Creek Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, living her faith through love and kindness.

In addition to her family, Nancy shared a deep bond with her long-term homecare assistant and CNA, Cindy Dennison, who provided exceptional care and compassion. Nancy held Cindy in high regard, sharing much love and gratitude for her dedication and support during her later years.

She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Charles Grider; her children, Petsie Ford (Chad), Charlotte Rouse (Bobby), and George Grider; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Deborah Combs and Dinneen Goodner (Bill); brothers, Bud Smith and Roy Smith (Brenda); and many extended family members and friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Esther Lorraine Akers; sisters, Zella Greene, Susie Flowers, and Jeanette Phillips; and a brother, David Smith.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 2:00pm Friday, January 3, 2025, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Lone Star Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 11:00am-8:00pm and Friday after 8:00am until time for the service at the funeral home.

Nancy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
