Arthur Clyde Shirley

 


Arthur Clyde Shirley, 84, of Summer Shade, KY beloved father, and grandfather went home to be with his heavenly father on Monday, December 9, 2024, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loved ones Clyde was born July 31, 1940, to the late Tom and Alice Shirley in Summer Shade KY. He was a devout Christian and a member of the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church. He married the love of his life, the late Mary Elizabeth Beauchamp Shirley on July 26, 1969, from that marriage came two children: a son and a daughter. Clyde later became a pillar to his community and a deacon in his church. He loved to sing, spend time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchild, family, and friends. He was a farmer for many years, working in construction and a carpenter by trade.

 

 He is survived by a son: Arthur Allen Shirley and wife Trish Collins-Shirley who was his special daughter-in-law and caregiver; A daughter Stacy Lynn Shirley-Reed and husband Roger L Reed Jr. two grandsons: Jalen and Spencer Shirley; great grandson: Copelyn Shirley and 5 bonus grandchildren; Brother Leanis Shirley; Sister Clotil Gibson; brothers-in-law; John Taylor and Thomas Beauchamp; two sisters-in-law; Selma Johnson and Kathryn Carter. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

 

 He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Shirley; Parents: Tom and Alice Shirley; 3 brothers; 4 sisters and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

 

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, December 14, 2024, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Trinity Lane Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 10:00am until time for the service at the funeral home.

 

 In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Trinity Lane Cemetery.

William Richard Carey


 

William Richard Carey of Summer Shade, KY passed away on December 4, 2024, at his home.

He was born on September 18, 1934, in Buffalo, NY to the late John and Gertrude Carey.

 Mr. Carey was a member of the Grandview Church of Christ and a veteran of the United States

Army. He loved children, old movies and classical music.

 He is survived by four children Rosalie (Frank) Megliette, Thomas (Michelle) Carey, John

(Annette) Carey, Frank (Jeanette) Carey and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He

is also survived by a sister, Frances Carrigan.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and four sons: infant twins, William R Carey JR and

Louis J Carey. His siblings: Robert, Agnes, John and Richard also preceded him in death.

 Visitation will begin at 11:00 on Friday, December 13 with the funeral following at 1:00. The

visitation and funeral will be held at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade with Brother

Jim Walsh officiating. He will be buried in the Marrowbone Christian Brotherhood Church

Cemetery in Burkesville, KY.

 He will be missed by his church family and many other friends.

James (Jim) Cronister

 

James (Jim) Arvin Cronister, 72, of Horse Cave, KY formally of Bremerton, WA, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024. He was born on April 5, 1952, in Bremerton, WA to the late William Frank Jr. Cronister Jr. and Lena May Cronister.

 

He was a veteran in the United States Army and loved watching football and fishing.

 

He is survived by 8 children: Scott Cronister (Devonda) of Horse Cave, KY; Shannon Heacock of Glasgow; Kim Soderland, Jamie Cronister, Cari Duke, and Corena Sutherland all of WA; Kenny Cronister, Justin Cronister, Tyler Cronister, and Kaitlin Cronister all of IA ; 8 grandchildren, Ethan Heacock, Isaac Heacock, Hayden Cronister, Americus Heacock, Haley Cronister, Elijah Heacock, Palin Heacock, and Channing Burnett; one great grandchild Tatum Cronister; one brother Bob Cronister

 

In honor of his wishes, cremation was chosen by his family, a memorial service will be held at a later date. McMurtrey Funeral Home is assisting the family with his arrangements.
