John Dakota "Cody" Miles

 

 

John Dakota “Cody” Miles, 32, of Tompkinsville, KY, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Ky. He was born in Glasgow to John Allen Miles and Michele Davis Carmichael who survives.

 Mr. Miles was of the Christian faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing with his children. Cody had a goal of overcoming cancer he was diagnosed with in July 2024. He had gone into remission on April 3, 2025, before God decided to call him to his heavenly home.

 He is survived by his wife; Lauren Miles, Tompkinsville, two children; John Henry “Hank” and Elizabeth Mae “Ellie” Miles, Tompkinsville, mother; Michele Carmichael (Thomas), Mt Sterling, KY, father; John Allen Miles (Martha), Tompkinsville, Grandmother; Louise Watson, Tompkinsville; father and mother-in-law, Tony and Amanda Watson, one brother; Jacob Miles, Winchester, KY, grandfather; Clurie “Red” Pennington, Tompkinsville, grandmother; Louise Watson, Tompkinsville, one brother-in-law; Tensley Watson (Bailey), Tompkinsville; special loved ones; Michael and Paula Thompson.

 He is preceded in death by one sister; Courtney Miles, grandparents; John Tyler (Alma) Miles, Trilba (Elizabeth) Davis, Betty Pennington, and Harold Watson, uncles; Billy Pennington and Jerry Miles, cousins; Roy Ford and Shawn Ford.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Monday, April 14, 2025, at Rock Valley Church of Christ with burial in the Watson Family Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and Monday starting at 8:00am until time for the service. Visitation and service will be held at Rock Valley Church of Christ.

 In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

 McMurtrey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Patrick Donahue

 

James Patrick Donahue, 54, of Glasgow, Passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Borm October 28, 1970, in Providence, Rhode Island the son of the late James and Sheila Arlene Long Donahue.  Mr. Donahue was an employee of the Woodland Lumber Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jerri Denise Flowers Donahue.

Survivors include his companion Evelyn Johnson and her family Jennis Johnson, Emily Johnson, and

Atlantis Glover; a longtime friend Terry Jones.

Mr. Donahue chose cremation, and no services are scheduled at this time. McMurtrey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Alternate expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations to the funeral home to help with final expenses.

Bobbie Jean Ferrell

Bobbie Jean Ferrell, 88, of Glasgow KY, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Glasgow State Nursing Facility. She was born to the late Robert Glen and Janie Mae Bailey Word.

 She enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with family. She was a hairdresser in Summer Shade for 49 years and was a member of the Summer Shade Christian Church She is survived by two daughters, Donna Jean Miralda, Bowling Green and Charlotte Ferrell, Glasgow. One grandson; Carter Chavira, Pasadena, California and one step-daughter; Carolyn Ferrell Skipworth and family of Celina, TN.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by;  her husband of 47 yrs. and Ernie Lee Ferrell. one son Kennneth Wayne Huffman.

 The family wishes to offer a special thank you to the friends and caregivers at Glasgow State Nursing Facility and hospuarus Health.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00am until the service at 1:00pm at the funeral home.

 In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Billy Joe Jennings

 


Billy Joe “Calhoun” Jennings, 88, of Glasgow KY, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at NHC Healthcare. He was born to the late Mike Jennings and Ethel Denham.

 He enjoyed coon-hunting, western movies, gospel/country music, and spending time with “them babies.” He worked at the sawmill in Summer Shade. He was of the Baptist faith.

 He is survived by his son, Joe Jennings (Tammy); daughters, Karen Dowell (Charles) of Glasgow and Julia Vaughan (David) of Arkansas; grandchildren, Amanda Browning (Chris), Chris Dowell (Katie), Felicia Wilson, Sarah Jennings, Emmy Rawlins (JR), Hannah Jennings (Shelton), and Sophie Jennings; great grandchildren, Shelby Ballard (Anthony), Christopher Browning, Mallory Dowell, McKenna Dowell, Jaxson Dowell, Patrick Dowell, Elizabeth Vaughan, Tyler Dodson, and Kierra Moore; great great grandchildren, Kason, Grayson, Braylon, and Magnolia.

 He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Janice Jennings; granddaughter, Vanessa Johnson; great granddaughter, Gracie McAdams; and several brothers and sisters.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, March 14, 2025, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Gee Harvey Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and Friday starting at 8:00am until time for the service.
