Christie Dawn Thompson

 


Christie Dawn Thompson, 49, of Summer Shade KY, passed away at her home on Monday, January 26, 2025. She was born on June 9, 1975, in Tompkinsville, to the late Albert and Shirley Page Walker.

Christie was a member of the Poplar Log Church of Christ. She graduated from Metcalfe County High School and Western Kentucky University. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her children.

She is survived by her husband, James Thompson; two children, Michael Trent Nathaniel Thompson and Michaela Allyson Rose Thompson; one sister, Teresa Furlong of Eighty-Eight, KY; one niece, Miranda Furlong Hampton (Aaron) of Eighty-Eight, KY; and a great niece, Aubrey Hampton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 1, 2025, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and after 8:00am Saturday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.

Gary Steve Raney

 


Gary Steve Raney, 73, of Summer Shade, Kentucky passed away at his home on Sunday, January 26, 2025. He was born on November 23, 1951, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, to the late Lovel Raney and Edith Shaw Raney.

Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching old westerns and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Dean Raney of Summer Shade, KY; one daughter, Pam Vickery (Mark) of Summer Shade; one son, Michael Raney of Summer Shade; five grandsons, Tylor Capps, Trevor Vickery (Delana), Chase Raney (fiancé Konner), Bryce Vickery (fiancé Madison) and Briar Raney; three great grandchildren, Hayden Capps, Ryder Vickery, and Blakelyn Vickery; six sisters, Cheryl Britt, Kathy Turner (Doyle), Jane Rouse (Dean), Cindy Hammer, all of Tompkinsville, Patsy Vinson of Glasgow, Mary DeVore (Lionel) of Glasgow; one brother, Ricky Raney (Judy) of Tompkinsville; and his beloved dog, Bruno. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Lynn and Lois Rhoton and one brother, Jerry Raney.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 8:00pm and will continue Thursday, from 8:00am until time for the service at the funeral home.

Wanda Marlene Adwell Runyon

 


Wanda Marlene Adwell Runyon, 71, of Glasgow KY, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025, at the NHC Healthcare Center in Glasgow. She was born in Glasgow KY on April 6, 1953, to the late Mitchell and Thelma Mackey Denham. She was a seamstress for Sorensen of Glasgow and member of the Refuge Church of Christ.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going to different restaurants with her family and friends.

She is survived by her two sons, Mitch Adwell of Nashville TN and Scotty Adwell (Chelsea) of Tompkinsville; grandchildren, Brynna Adwell and Zayden Causey; and a sister Gail Parke.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Refuge Church of Christ in Eighty-Eight with burial in the Refuge Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday morning starting at 10:00am and will continue until time for the service at the church.

McMurtrey Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
